Open Pañcāṅga is a non-linear, choose-your-own-path learning environment. It explores how the movements of the Sun and Moon connect with Sanskrit calendar vocabulary, seasons, months, and the timing of cultural and religious observances. Daily almanac reports, personal charts, and traditional interpretations of calendar classifications are outside its educational scope.

India's National Education Policy 2020 says Sanskrit should be taught in ways that are “interesting and experiential as well as contemporarily relevant.” Open Pañcāṅga is an independent, open-source example of one way that goal can be approached.
When you want to test an idea, the persistent Trail Compass can open the Sky Explorer. It requests astronomical calculations from NASA/JPL Horizons for a place and date, then connects the result with the vocabulary you are learning. The lessons are the destination; the explorer supplies examples that support them.
