Four friends · four strengths · one team

Meet your guides

Prīti, Ravi, Sam, and Gaja travel through the learning forest with you. Each notices something different, and together they make a terrific team.

Your trail companions

Everyone brings a different way of solving problems.

Prīti

The bold sky explorer

Prīti is curious, adventurous, and often the first to try a new path. She loves observing the night sky and imagines becoming an astronaut or planetary scientist.

Sky Explorer

Ravi

The pattern finder

Ravi enjoys mathematics, computers, and the patterns within motion. He likes building simulations and imagines working with mission data at a space center.

Sam

The inventive engineer

Sam wants to know how things work and how they could work better. He sketches, builds, tests, and imagines designing the instruments and spacecraft that carry explorers safely.

Gaja

The steady teammate

Gaja—affectionately called Gajajī—is strong, cheerful, patient, and hard to discourage. He remembers the route, and when something is unclear, he asks before moving on. He stays calm when plans change and helps the whole team overcome obstacles.

Meet Gajajī’s notebook

One sky check, many lessons

Why does Gajajī keep a notebook?

When you make a sky check, Gajajī keeps one temporary copy of the result in this browser tab. As you explore other pages, you can use that result as a real example from your chosen place and date.

Remembering one result also means Open Pañcāṅga does not need to ask the shared NASA/JPL service for the same information again and again. Reusing your most recent sky check is a responsible way to learn from a public data provider. The notebook lives only in this browser tab’s session and disappears when that session ends.

A traditional story about Gaṇeśa as a scribe

Gajajī remembers—and he asks when something is unclear.

In a familiar account about the writing of the Mahābhārata, Gaṇeśa agrees to serve as Vyāsa’s scribe if the dictation never pauses. Vyāsa asks Gaṇeśa to stop writing whenever he does not understand a passage. Vyāsa’s intricate verses give him time to compose while Gaṇeśa considers their meaning.

Careful learners do not merely copy words. They pause, ask questions, and make sure the ideas fit together. This story gives Gajajī’s notebook a character of its own.

Better together

Different strengths make one terrific team.

Prīti may ask the bold question, Ravi may find the pattern, Sam may build the tool, and Gaja may help everyone keep going. None of them has every answer. They observe, calculate, create, remember, and learn from one another—just as real exploration combines many kinds of curiosity and skill.
